Cat in The Hat Birthday Success!

So I just had to share this with you all because it was a very exciting birthday party for my eldest daughter who turned 6 last week! And as I type that number, I still can't believe that she's 6 and not my little baby any more! (although, she still will always be my baby, lol).

She has been obsessed with The Cat in the Hat ever since we purchased the movie last year and has been saying for almost a whole 12 months that she wants a Cat in the Hat birthday party!  I had been keeping an eye on one of my favourite FB pages, Party Inspirations for ideas on how to decorate the table, even though mine isn't quite as good as some of the creations found on this page, I still had a ball putting it all together.
I might also note that she has now announced plans for both her 7th and 8th birthday party... I was a bit like...whoa whoa whoa, let's recover from this one first huh?!  Besides - I'm taking a break from parties next year - so much work!  Gotto hand it to the ladies who do this party planning businness as a profession!

Well here are some great pics (even though my flash was not working - typical)...

This is the cake that I made - this icing holds up so much better in the cooler months! lol

Jaida was lucky enough to receive some absolutely amazing gifts from handmade heavens including: Designer Mumma, Miss Goodie Two Shoes, and Oopsidaisi.  Jaida is wearing her custom Dr Seuss dress from Designer Mumma, with gorgeous matching hair accessory from Ivy Lane Hair Accessories. And of course she is gripping her MGTS doll to ensure that her sisters stay well away from her new-found love (and mine too, we've had secret cuddles already ;) lol)

This is the dessert table with faulous bunting from Jacqueline at Zippy Zippy, definitely the best quality fabric bunting around! (hard to keep straight as the kids kept tugging at it :)
The red and blue mini-suitcases were a special order from the very helpful and patient Gia at Trendy Tots. I sourced the gorgeous striped straws and blue striped paper plates (not shown) from a wonderful boutique party supply store: Mon Tresor.  The red striped cupcake papers, and cake pop supplies were sourced from Something for Cake (such a clever business name).

I want to thank each and every one of the businesses mentioned here for helping make my big girl's day so so fabulous, It was an effort to get it all to come together, but worth it in the end!

I can't thank my best friend, Amanda, enough for driving all the way from Kempsey to come to the party! Our kids had such an amazing time together and I can't wait to spend a less crazy time together in a few more days xx
